Hutyn Tomnatyk rises to 2,016 meters above sea level and is one of the highest peaks of the Chornohora range in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is located near the Ukrainian–Romanian border and forms part of the main ridge that includes some of the country’s tallest summits. The mountain lies within protected natural areas known for their alpine ecosystems.
The peak is characterized by wide grassy slopes, rocky sections near the summit, and open highland terrain shaped by ancient glacial processes. Its exposed position makes it susceptible to strong winds, sudden fog, and rapidly changing weather conditions. The surrounding landscapes feature subalpine meadows and panoramic views of neighboring peaks.
Hutyn Tomnatyk is frequently visited by hikers crossing the Chornohora ridge. The ascent is considered moderately challenging due to elevation gain and distance, but it does not require technical climbing skills in summer. From the summit, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the Carpathians extending toward Romania and across western Ukraine.
