Smotrych rises to 1,898 meters above sea level and is one of the notable peaks of the Chornohora range in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Although lower than the two-thousand-meter summits nearby, it forms an important part of the main ridge and is often included in classic trekking routes across the massif.
The mountain is distinguished by its elongated ridge and open alpine landscapes. Its slopes are covered with subalpine meadows and patches of stone fields shaped by past glacial activity. Due to its exposed position, Smotrych frequently experiences strong winds and rapidly changing mountain weather, especially during autumn and winter.
Smotrych is popular among hikers who begin or end their Chornohora ridge traverse near the village of Dzembronia. The ascent is considered moderately demanding but does not require technical climbing skills in summer conditions. From the summit ridge, visitors can enjoy wide panoramic views of neighboring peaks such as Pip Ivan Chornohorskyi and the surrounding Carpathian highlands.
