Petros rises to 2,020 meters above sea level and is one of the highest peaks of the Chornohora range in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Located between Hoverla and Sheshul, it is often considered one of the most scenic and distinctive summits in Ukraine due to its isolated, pyramid-like silhouette.
The mountain is characterized by steep grassy slopes, rocky outcrops near the summit, and open alpine meadows. Because of its exposed position, Petros is known for strong winds and rapidly changing weather conditions. In winter, the slopes accumulate significant snow, making avalanches possible and adding technical difficulty to ascents.
Petros is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers, especially those traversing the Chornohora ridge. The climb is physically demanding but does not require advanced technical skills in summer. From the summit, visitors enjoy panoramic views of Hoverla, the surrounding Carpathian peaks, and vast highland landscapes stretching across western Ukraine.
