Turkul (Туркул, 1,933 m / 6,342 ft) is a prominent peak in the Chornohora range of the Ukrainian Carpathians, on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia oblasts. One of the highest in the massif (close to "two-thousanders"), it overlooks the legendary Lake Nesamovyte (one of the most beautiful high-mountain lakes in the Carpathians, at 1,750 m) at its northern foot. The mountain features glacial cirques and bowl-shaped depressions. Popular routes start from Zaroslyak (via Nesamovyte lake, moderate hike) or along the Chornohora ridge traverse (e.g., with Rebra or Dantsir). The summit provides stunning 360° views of Chornohora peaks (Petros, Breskul), the biosphere reserve, and distant ranges. It's a top destination for hikers seeking dramatic landscapes, glacial features, and rhododendrons in spring—iconic and accessible compared to higher Gorgany peaks.
