Rebra rises to 2,001 meters above sea level and is one of the two-thousanders of the Chornohora range in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Although it is not as famous as Hoverla or Pip Ivan, Rebra forms an important part of the main ridge and is included among the highest peaks of Ukraine.
The mountain is characterized by a narrow rocky crest, which gave it its name — “Rebra” means “ribs,” reflecting the sharp, rib-like formations along the summit ridge. Its slopes are mostly covered with alpine meadows and stone fields shaped by past glacial activity. Due to its exposed position, the peak often experiences strong winds and rapidly changing weather conditions.
Rebra is typically visited by hikers traversing the Chornohora ridge. The ascent is considered moderately demanding because of elevation gain and uneven terrain, but it does not require technical climbing skills in summer. From the summit ridge, visitors can enjoy sweeping panoramic views of neighboring peaks, including Brebeneskul, Hutyn Tomnatyk, and other high points of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
