Ukrainian 2000ers

Only six summits in Ukraine reach 2,000 metres, and all of them stand on one ridge: Chornohora in the Eastern Carpathians. The list runs from Hoverla, the country's highest point at 2,061 m, through Brebeneskul, Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi with its ruined observatory, Petros and Hutyn Tomnatyk to Rebra, which clears the mark by a single metre.

Because the peaks line up along the main ridge, many hikers collect them in a two- or three-day traverse, sleeping in tents or at the Pip Ivan rescue station. The ridge is open and exposed, so wind, fog and summer thunderstorms decide more than the distance does.
