Dovbushanka (Довбушанка, 1,754 m / 5,755 ft) is the highest peak in the Dovbushanka ridge of the Gorgany massif in the Ukrainian Carpathians, located in Nadvirna district of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. Named after the legendary opryshok leader Oleksa Dovbush, it features a stretched summit (northwest to southeast) with steep northeastern slopes (cliffs in places) and gentler southwestern ones, covered in stone runs and sparse vegetation. Popular 2-day routes (35 km, high difficulty) start from Bystrytsia or Tatariv, passing through Syanyak, Khomyak, and the ridge to Medvezhyk (1,736 m), often with overnight near Dovbushanske lake. The summit provides stunning views of Gorgany wilderness, Chornohora, and the Prut valley. It's a top destination for rugged hikes in a protected zone—demanding with rocky terrain and exposure, but iconic for its history, solitude, and dramatic Carpathian landscapes.
