Normal Route

This is the standard and best-documented ascent line for Cerro Tupungato. It is a high-altitude mountaineering route rather than a trekking path, with long glacier and snow sections above the approach camps. The route is generally climbed in stable weather and requires glacier travel skills, crampon use, and competence at altitude. Objective hazards include crevasses, snow conditions, wind, and rapid weather changes typical of the central Andes. The upper mountain is broad and exposed, so navigation can be difficult in poor visibility.
