Normal Route from Jou de los Cabrones

This is the standard and best-known way to climb Torre Cerredo, the highest peak in the Picos de Europa. The route is a mountain ascent over broken limestone terrain rather than a marked hiking trail. It is generally considered straightforward in dry summer conditions, but route-finding can be confusing in mist and the rock can be loose in places. The final section to the summit involves easy scrambling on steep, exposed ground. Snow, ice, or wet rock can significantly increase the seriousness of the climb. It is commonly approached from the Jou de los Cabrones refuge area, which serves as the usual high base for the ascent.
