Lurking Fear is a well-known El Capitan route on the southwest face. It is generally considered less continuous than the Nose or Salathé but still a serious big-wall climb. The route involves a mix of free and aid climbing on steep granite with long pitches and ledge systems. Parties usually spend multiple days on the wall, depending on style and conditions. It is documented in standard Yosemite big-wall references. As with all El Capitan routes, weather, rockfall, and route-finding are important hazards.
