Arête des Géodésiens
From the Arrémoulit hut, head east towards the Col du Palas. At Palas lake (2359 m), head due north to skirt around the Palas. Progress is by sight through sometimes unstable scree, threading as best you can between the rocky steps, then gradually trending east towards the Notch of the Geodesists (cairns).
Follow the ridge to the south, avoid a substantial rock outcrop by going west (cairns and traces) and return to the ridge beyond. The final section is easy (occasional grade II moves on large blocks) but airy and somewhat intimidating for beginners.
First ascent (during the first ascent of Palas): 1825 - Geodetic officers Paul-Michel Hossard and Pierre Peytier with guides and porters.
