Highest mountains in the range

San Jacinto Peak (10,834 ft / 3,302 m) is the highest point in the San Jacinto Mountains and Southern California's second-highest peak after San Gorgonio. Rising sharply above the desert near Palm Springs, it offers dramatic relief from scorching lowlands via the famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which ascends 8,500 ft to Mountain Station in minutes. From there, moderate trails like the Round Valley or Deer Springs lead to the summit with 2,000–3,000 ft gain. The peak provides sweeping views of the Coachella Valley, Salton Sea, and distant San Gorgonio on clear days. Popular for day hikes, winter snow play, and escaping heat; it's a "sky island" with pine forests contrasting the arid below. One of the most accessible high peaks in the state.
