Gropa (Гропа, 1,759 m / 5,771 ft, some sources 1,763 m) is a prominent peak in the Gorgany massif of the Ukrainian Carpathians, located on the border of Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts in the Bratkivskyi ridge (also known as Chorna Polonyna). Part of the wild eastern Gorgany, it features bare summits and near-summit slopes covered with stone runs (scree) and mountain pine krummholz, transitioning to dense spruce forests lower down. The mountain is in a remote, sparsely populated area, ideal for solitude seekers. Popular routes include multi-day treks from Stara Huta or Osmoloda, often combined with Bratkivska or Durnia peaks via Polonyna Rushchyna. The summit offers expansive views of the Gorgany ridges, distant Chornohora, and valleys. It's favored by experienced hikers for its rugged terrain, stone fields, and authentic untouched wilderness—demanding with exposure but highly rewarding.
