North Ridge

3A | AD | III
The North Ridge is a classic alpine route on Clocher de Cheilon and is the best-known mountaineering line on the peak. It is a mixed ridge climb with rock and snow, typically requiring secure movement on exposed terrain. The route is generally considered a serious alpine outing rather than a simple scramble. Conditions can vary significantly with snow and ice on the ridge, which may increase difficulty. Objective hazards include loose rock, cornices, and changing snow conditions. It is usually climbed from one of the nearby high huts in the Grand Combin area.

South Ridge

3A | AD | III
The South Ridge is another established alpine route on Clocher de Cheilon. It follows a mixed ridge line with typical alpine terrain, combining rock and snow. The route is exposed and requires competent route-finding and movement on steep ground. As with many routes in this massif, conditions can change the character of the climb substantially. Loose rock and snow/ice patches are the main objective concerns. It is a genuine mountaineering ascent rather than a hiking route.
