The North Ridge is a classic alpine route on Clocher de Cheilon and is the best-known mountaineering line on the peak. Conditions can vary significantly with snow and ice on the ridge, which may increase difficulty. Objective hazards include loose rock, cornices, and changing snow conditions. It is usually climbed from one of the nearby high huts in the Grand Combin area.
Route Outline
Cabane de Chanrion or Cabane des Vignettes -> approach to the north side of Clocher de Cheilon
Foot of the North Ridge -> climb mixed rock and snow terrain on the ridge
Upper ridge -> continue on steeper sections toward the summit block
Summit of Clocher de Cheilon -> descend by the same route or via a standard descent line
