The South Ridge is another established alpine route on Clocher de Cheilon. It follows a mixed ridge line with typical alpine terrain, combining rock and snow. The route is exposed and requires competent route-finding and movement on steep ground. As with many routes in this massif, conditions can change the character of the climb substantially. Loose rock and snow/ice patches are the main objective concerns. It is a genuine mountaineering ascent rather than a hiking route.

Approach from the south side of Clocher de Cheilon
Foot of the South Ridge -> climb mixed ground and ridge sections
Upper ridge -> follow the crest toward the summit block
Summit of Clocher de Cheilon -> descend by the chosen descent route
