Seven Second Summits

by pickapeak

The second-highest mountain of each continent, a challenge often considered harder than the Seven Summits themselves. K2 in the Karakoram, 8,611 m, is far more dangerous than Everest; Ojos del Salado, Mount Logan in Canada's Saint Elias Mountains, Mount Kenya and Antarctica's Mount Tyree are all remote, cold or technical.

Two places depend on how the continents are drawn. Europe's second is given here as Dykh-Tau in the Caucasus, and Oceania's as Sumantri in the Sudirman Range of New Guinea, next to Carstensz Pyramid; other versions of the list make different choices.
