Via ferrata Piazzetta is a well-known protected climbing route on Piz Boè. It is substantially more committing than the normal route and requires via ferrata equipment and experience. The route follows steep rock with cables, ladders, and exposed traverses. It is a classic Dolomite-style ascent and can be crowded in good weather. The route is sensitive to wet conditions, loose rock, and congestion on the protected sections. It is typically climbed in summer when the ferrata is open and snow-free.

This is the standard and best-documented ascent to Piz Boè. It is a non-technical alpine route, but it still requires sure-footedness on steep rocky terrain and in places exposed path sections. The route is commonly used as a mountain hike/scramble from the Pordoi area and is often combined with an overnight at Rifugio Boè. In early season or after bad weather, snow and ice can increase the difficulty and objective hazard. The final section to the summit is the most alpine part of the ascent. It is generally considered the normal route rather than a pure trekking trail because of the rocky summit terrain.
