Southwest Route from Rifugio Segantini

This is the classic and best-known route to Cima Presanella. It is a high alpine ascent that typically combines glacier travel, snow slopes, and a final rocky ridge section. The route is generally considered the normal way to the summit and is documented in standard alpine sources for the peak. Objective hazards include crevasses on the glacier and changing snow conditions on the upper mountain. The difficulty is moderate by alpine standards, but it requires solid crampon and rope skills. Route-finding can be important in poor visibility, especially on the glacier and near the summit ridge.

An east-side route to Cima Presanella is documented in alpine literature as a more demanding alternative to the normal ascent. It is a serious mountaineering line with steeper and more exposed terrain than the standard route. Depending on conditions, it may involve mixed climbing, snow, and rock sections. The route is more committing and less straightforward than the normal ridge ascent. Objective dangers include loose rock, snow instability, and complex descent logistics. It is best suited to experienced alpinists with strong judgment in alpine terrain.
