East Face / East Side Route

This is the classic and best-known route to Cima Presanella. It is a high alpine ascent that typically combines glacier travel, snow slopes, and a final rocky ridge section. The route is generally considered the normal way to the summit and is documented in standard alpine sources for the peak. Objective hazards include crevasses on the glacier and changing snow conditions on the upper mountain. The difficulty is moderate by alpine standards, but it requires solid crampon and rope skills. Route-finding can be important in poor visibility, especially on the glacier and near the summit ridge.

This is a documented alpine route on the mountain’s southwest side. It is more serious than a straightforward normal ascent and is typically treated as a mountaineering route rather than a hiking line. The terrain can involve steeper snow, mixed ground, and exposed sections depending on conditions. Because of its aspect, snow stability and rock quality can vary significantly through the season. It is suitable only for parties comfortable with route-finding and alpine protection. In poor conditions it can become substantially more difficult than the nominal grade suggests.
