The North Ridge is a major alpine route on Schreckhorn and is generally considered more difficult and serious than the normal south-ridge ascent. Route Outline
Approach the north side of Schreckhorn from the Grindelwald valley or via a bivouac/hut approach
Gain the north ridge from the glacier and lower rock sections
Climb the long, exposed ridge with mixed climbing and difficult rock steps
Continue on the crest to the summit
Descend by the chosen descent route, often requiring careful downclimbing and/or rappels
