A classic and well-known alpine route on Mount Fairweather, climbing the long north ridge to the summit. It is a serious glaciated mountaineering objective with extensive crevasse travel and exposure to avalanche and storm hazards. The route is typically approached from the coastal side and requires strong glacier travel, route-finding, and campcraft skills. Conditions can change rapidly because of the mountain’s maritime weather and heavy snowfall. The ridge and upper mountain are remote, committing, and far from rescue support. This is generally regarded as the standard documented climbing line on the peak.
