Normal Route (Northwest Face)

This is the standard and by far the most commonly climbed route on Manāslu. It is a high-altitude snow and ice route with objective hazards including crevasses, avalanche exposure, and sections that can become steep and icy above the higher camps.

Route Outline

Base camp on the Manaslu Glacier
Climb the lower glacier and snow slopes to Camp 1
Continue via the upper glacier and steep snow/ice slopes to higher camps
Ascend the upper mountain to the summit ridge and summit
Descend the same route to base camp

The north side of Manāslu is documented as a serious Himalayan alpine route with sustained snow and ice climbing at extreme altitude. Conditions are highly dependent on snow stability and weather, and the route is exposed to crevasses and avalanche danger.
