Normal route from the Wildhorn Hut (north-east ridge / glacier route)
This is the standard and best-documented ascent of Wildhorn. It is a classic alpine snow-and-glacier route with straightforward route-finding in good conditions. The difficulties are generally moderate, but glacier travel and crevasse awareness are required. The upper mountain is broad and can be exposed to wind, poor visibility, and hard snow. In late season the route may become more broken and require more careful navigation. It is usually climbed from the Wildhorn Hut, which makes it a hut-based alpine ascent rather than a hiking trail.
Route Outline
Wildhorn Hut (Wildhornhütte) -> glacier approach below the north-east side
Cross the glacier and ascend toward the north-east ridge
Follow the ridge and upper snow slopes to the summit
Return by the same route to the hut and descent to the valley
