Normal route from the Gries Glacier via the Blinnenhorn Hut

This is the standard and best-known alpine route to Blinnenhorn. It is a classic glacier ascent on moderate snow slopes, usually straightforward in stable conditions. The main objective hazards are crevasses on the Gries Glacier and route-finding in poor visibility. Late-season conditions can make the upper slopes harder and more exposed. The route is generally considered a non-technical mountaineering climb rather than a rock route. It is commonly done from the Blinnenhorn Hut or from the Gries area as a longer day.

Blinnenhorn Hut / Gries area -> Gries Glacier
Cross the glacier to the upper basin below the summit slopes

Normal route from the Italian side via the Corno Gries area

2A | PD | II
This is the Italian-side approach to the same summit, using the upper glacier and snow slopes on the south side. It is a classic alpine route with modest technical difficulty, but it still requires glacier travel competence. Crevasse danger and snow stability are the main concerns. In good conditions the climbing is mostly on broad, moderate slopes. It is a documented mountaineering ascent rather than a hiking trail. The route is often described as a normal route from the Formazza/Corno Gries side.
