Normal Route

Cerro Plomo is commonly climbed by a standard non-technical alpine route from the Santiago side. The route is a high-altitude snow-and-rock ascent rather than a technical climb, but it is serious because of altitude, weather, and exposure to cold and wind. The upper mountain typically involves broad slopes and a final summit section on mixed terrain. Conditions can vary greatly with season, and snow or ice may increase the difficulty. This is the best-documented and most established way to the summit in climbing references for the peak.
