The Japanese Route is a documented alternative line on Gasherbrum I, known for its steep and demanding West Face climbing. It is significantly more difficult and committing than the normal route, with sustained technical difficulties at extreme altitude.

Gasherbrum I west side base camp -> lower West Face
Ascend steep snow and ice terrain on the West Face
Gain the upper mountain and connect to the summit slopes/ridge

Descend by the chosen descent line or the established route
