Goûter Route

This is a classic high alpine traverse linking the three Mont Blanc summits: Tacul, Maudit, and Mont Blanc. It is more serious than the normal route because it includes crevasse travel, steep snow, and exposed sections on the upper mountain. The route is strongly dependent on conditions and requires efficient glacier travel and route-finding. The Brenva Spur is one of the great classic alpine routes on Mont Blanc and is much more serious than the normal routes. It climbs the imposing south-east side of the mountain and is known for steep snow, ice, and mixed climbing. Conditions on the route vary greatly, and objective hazards such as serac fall, rockfall, and avalanche danger are significant. It is a long, committing line that demands strong alpine skills and good acclimatization. The route is historically important and widely documented in major alpine literature. It is generally considered a major mountaineering objective rather than a standard summit route.

The Frendo Spur is a famous north-side alpine route on Mont Blanc, climbed from the Chamonix side. It is a steep mixed line with snow, ice, and rock sections, and it is more technical than the normal routes. The route is exposed to objective hazards, especially rockfall and changing snow conditions. It is a committing ascent that requires solid alpine technique and efficient movement on steep terrain. The line is well known in guidebooks and is a classic objective for experienced alpinists. Depending on conditions, parties may finish via the upper Mont Blanc slopes to the summit.

The Innominata Ridge is a major classic ridge route on the south side of Mont Blanc. It is a long and serious mixed climb with sustained exposure and complex route-finding. The line is more technical and committing than the normal routes, and conditions can change the difficulty substantially. Objective hazards include rockfall, snow instability, and crevasse travel on the approach. It is a well-documented alpine route and a respected objective for experienced teams.
