Stubai Glacier / Schaufeljoch area -> approach to the east side of Zuckerhütl
Gain the east ridge or its upper snow slopes
Follow the ridge to the summit
Descend by the ascent route or via the normal glacier route if conditions allow

2A | PD | II
This is the standard and best-known ascent of Zuckerhütl, the highest peak in the Stubai Alps. The route is a classic glacier-and-snow climb with a short but exposed final ridge section. Conditions can vary significantly, and crevasse and cornice hazards are common on the glacier approach. In late season the upper slopes may become steeper and more demanding, with firmer snow or ice. The climb is generally considered a straightforward alpine route in good conditions, but it requires full glacier equipment and mountain experience. It is usually done from the Sulzenau Hut area as a high-mountain day or with a hut overnight.
