Approach

From the Gloriettes dam, follow the excellent path to the Puert de Pinède (2466 m).

Route

From the pass, a grueling scree slope leads to a first summit (2660 m, Pico de Lera on Spanish maps). Descent in 2nd grade and friction climbing (a few cairns), then a somewhat exposed passage on a narrow ridge, and you reach the foot of a second summit (2694 m). Climb it via a ledge on the southern slope, halfway up. Descent near the crest then to the north (2/3a) and an exposed 3rd grade step to finish. Once again easy but exposed passages, a few easy slabs on friction and finally another vile scree slope to Pic Blanc.

Return

By the same route.

Remarks

- Varied but poor limestone throughout
- The Ollivier guide rates it AD-, but that is clearly too much. The north-east ridge, rated PD in the guide, is by contrast largely underrated.
