This is the standard and best-known mountaineering ascent of Wildstrubel from the Lämmerenhütte area. It is a glacier route with a straightforward alpine character, usually climbed with crampons and rope. The difficulties are generally moderate, but route-finding can be important in poor visibility. Crevasses and snow conditions on the glacier are the main objective hazards. The final section to the summit is typically on snow and easy mixed terrain depending on conditions. It is commonly treated as a classic non-technical alpine climb rather than a hiking route.

This is another established ascent line to Wildstrubel, starting from the Gemmi side. It is a classic glacier mountaineering route with moderate difficulty in normal conditions. The route is less about technical climbing than about safe glacier travel and efficient movement on snow. Crevasse danger and late-season snow bridges can make conditions more serious. The upper mountain is usually climbed on snow slopes leading to the summit. It is a documented alpine route and not merely a trekking path.
