This is the standard and best-known route on Weissmies. It is a classic alpine snow-and-ice ascent with glacier travel and a straightforward summit ridge. The route is generally considered non-technical in good conditions, but crevasses and snow conditions on the Trift Glacier require proper glacier equipment and judgment. The upper mountain is exposed to wind and can be icy or hard-packed. The final ridge to the summit is usually the crux in terms of exposure rather than climbing difficulty. It is commonly done from the Weissmieshütte as a one-day alpine climb or with an overnight stay.

The Southwest Ridge is a recognized alpine route on Weissmies and is more serious than the normal glacier route. It involves mixed terrain and typically requires more route-finding than the standard ascent. Conditions can vary significantly, with snow, ice, and loose rock all possible. The ridge is more exposed and committing than the normal route. It is suited to experienced alpinists comfortable with moderate mixed climbing in alpine conditions. Because of its character, it is less frequently climbed than the normal route.

The North Face of Weissmies is a documented alpine face route and is substantially more serious than the normal route. It is a snow-and-ice climb that can involve steep sections and objective hazards such as avalanche danger, icefall, and changing conditions. The face demands solid crampon and ice-axe technique and good timing. Route conditions are highly dependent on season and recent weather. It is a much more committing ascent than the standard glacier route. This route is for experienced climbers seeking a steeper alpine objective.
