This is the standard and best-documented ascent route to Similaun. It is a classic glacier-and-snow climb with a straightforward line from the Similaunhütte to the summit. The route is generally considered moderate in alpine difficulty, but it requires normal glacier travel skills and appropriate crevasse awareness. Conditions can vary significantly with snow cover, crevasses, and late-season ice on the upper slopes. In stable conditions it is one of the more accessible 3500-metre summits in the Ötztal Alps. The route is usually climbed as an out-and-back from the hut.
