This is the standard and best-documented ascent to Oberaarrothorn. It is an alpine mountaineering route on the east ridge, typically started from the Oberaarjoch Hut. The route is generally straightforward in good conditions but requires sure-footedness on rocky and possibly snow-covered terrain. Exposure is moderate in places, especially along the ridge crest. Late-season snow, ice, or poor visibility can increase the seriousness of the climb. It is not a hiking trail and is treated as a proper alpine ascent.
