This is the classic and best-known ascent of Monte Pelmo, usually described as the normal route from Rifugio Venezia. It is a mountaineering route rather than a simple hike, with sustained exposed scrambling and short climbing sections on rock. The route is partly equipped in places, but it still requires sure-footedness and comfort on steep alpine terrain. Rock quality is generally good for the Dolomites, though loose sections and exposure are significant. In wet, icy, or crowded conditions the route becomes much more serious. It is commonly climbed in summer and early autumn when the face is dry.
