This is the classic alpine route on Mont Pourri’s north side and is the best-known mountaineering line on the mountain. It combines glacier travel with a steeper upper section on the north face and ridge. The route is serious because of crevasses, snow conditions, and objective hazards from the face. Difficulty varies strongly with season and snow cover, but it is generally considered a straightforward alpine climb rather than a technical rock route. It is normally done with glacier equipment and good route-finding. The line is documented in standard Vanoise and Haute-Tarentaise mountaineering references.

This is the standard normal ascent used by many parties from the refuge on the mountain’s south or southwest side. It is primarily a glacier route with snow slopes and a straightforward summit finish. The main objective dangers are crevasses, snow bridges, and poor visibility on the glacier. It is less technically demanding than the north-face line, but still requires proper alpine equipment and glacier competence. The route is well documented in regional guidebooks for the Vanoise massif. Conditions can change the difficulty significantly, especially late in the season.
