North Face via the Grand Col and North Ridge
This is the classic alpine route on Mont Pourri’s north side and is the best-known mountaineering line on the mountain. It combines glacier travel with a steeper upper section on the north face and ridge. The route is serious because of crevasses, snow conditions, and objective hazards from the face. Difficulty varies strongly with season and snow cover, but it is generally considered a straightforward alpine climb rather than a technical rock route. It is normally done with glacier equipment and good route-finding. The line is documented in standard Vanoise and Haute-Tarentaise mountaineering references.
Route Outline
Valley approach from the Peisey-Nancroix / Villaroger side to the Grand Col area
Cross glacier terrain to the foot of the north face
Climb the north face to the north ridge
Follow the ridge to the summit of Mont Pourri
Descend by the ascent route or via the normal glacier descent if conditions allow
