Mountaineering Routes

This is the standard and best-documented way to climb Le Taillon. It is a non-technical alpine route, usually done in summer conditions, and is commonly treated as a mountaineering ascent rather than a pure hike because of its high-mountain setting. The route follows broad slopes and a straightforward ridge approach, with the main objective hazards being altitude, weather, and lingering snow early in the season. In stable conditions it is generally considered easy, but navigation can be less obvious in mist or when snow covers the plateau. It is typically climbed from the French side via the Brèche de Roland and the Col des Tentes area. The descent is normally by the same line.
