Chivchyn (Чивчин, 1,766 m / 5,794 ft, some sources 1,769 m) is the highest peak in the Chivchyn Mountains (Chivchyny) of the Ukrainian Carpathians, located in Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast near the Romanian border. Part of the Marmaros massif extension, it features steep slopes (especially the eastern one with cliffs), forested foothills transitioning to polonyna meadows higher up. The northern foot hosts the scenic high-mountain Lake Nesamovyte (one of the most beautiful in the Carpathians at 1,750 m). Popular routes start from Zaroslyak or Shybene villages, often radial to the summit or as part of Chivchyn ridge traverses. The summit provides fantastic 360° views of Romanian Carpathians, Chornohora, and distant ranges. It's a top spot for adventurers seeking wild, uncrowded landscapes, volcanic rock outcrops (porphyrites), and biodiversity—remote and magical, with fewer visitors than mainstream peaks.
