It is significantly more committing than the normal glacier approaches on the south side. Ridge climbing on this peak can involve mixed snow, ice, and rock, with long exposed sections and complex route-finding. The route is more technical and committing than the standard glacier routes. Cornices and unstable snow are common hazards on the ridge. It is a serious alpine objective in the Caucasus rather than a trekking ascent.
