The highest mountain on each continent: Everest in Asia, Aconcagua in South America, Denali in North America, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Europe, Vinson in Antarctica and Kosciuszko in Australia. Dick Bass was the first to climb all seven, in 1985, and this is his version of the list.
A second version replaces Kosciuszko with Carstensz Pyramid in New Guinea, the highest peak of the wider Oceania region and a far harder climb. The spread is the challenge: the list asks for a hike, several high-altitude expeditions, two cold and remote glaciated peaks and an 8,849-metre summit.
