The peaks of New York's Catskill Mountains that rise above 3,500 feet, the list behind the Catskill 3500 Club. Slide Mountain is the highest, followed by Hunter Mountain with its fire tower and the Blackhead Range of Black Dome, Thomas Cole and Blackhead. Halcott Mountain and Rocky Mountain are among the lowest.
The heights are modest, but the list is not a stroll. Several peaks have no maintained trail, so reaching them means bushwhacking through dense forest with map and compass. Club membership also asks for four of them, Slide, Blackhead, Balsam and Panther, to be climbed again in winter, when snow and ice turn short hikes into long, cold days.
