West Ridge

The west ridge is a serious alpine route on the Jungfrau. It is more technical and exposed than the normal route and is generally considered a major mountaineering undertaking. The south ridge is a more serious alpine route than the normal Jungfraujoch ascent. It involves a longer and more committing climb on mixed terrain, with greater exposure than the standard route. The line is less straightforward and is more dependent on stable conditions. Rock quality and snow cover can both affect difficulty. It is a classic mountaineering objective rather than a trekking route. Parties should expect a more technical and time-consuming ascent than the normal route.
