Voie normale de la Meije (via the Brèche de la Meije and the Arête du Promontoire)
This is the standard documented alpine line associated with the summit of La Meije Pic Central, combining glacier approach and the exposed upper ridge system. It is not a hiking route and requires full mountaineering equipment and experience. The upper mountain is steep, exposed, and often mixed, with objective hazards from rockfall and changing snow conditions. Crevasse and serac danger may be present on the glacier approach depending on season and line. The route is long and serious, with the summit reached only after a substantial high-mountain climb. It is one of the best-known ways to access the summit ridge of Pic Central in the La Meije massif.
