This is the standard mountaineering line to Punta Penia from the Marmolada area, generally approached from the south side. It is a glacier-and-rock alpine route rather than a hiking path, and conditions can vary significantly with snow and ice cover. The route is typically considered the easiest established ascent to the summit, but it still requires glacier travel skills and comfort on exposed terrain. Objective hazards include crevasses, rockfall, and rapidly changing weather. In late season, the route can become more serious if the glacier is broken or the snow bridge coverage is poor.
