Täschhorn North Ridge

5B | TD+/ED1 | V/VI Edit route
The north ridge is a much more serious and technical line than the normal route. It is a long alpine ridge climb with sustained exposure and difficult mixed climbing. The route is highly committing and requires stable conditions, strong route-finding, and efficient movement on steep terrain. Loose rock and corniced or icy sections can make the ridge considerably more difficult. It is suited only to very experienced alpinists. Because of its seriousness, it is less commonly climbed than the normal route.

Route Outline

Approach from the Mischabel side to the base of the north ridge
Climb the lower ridge on mixed rock and snow
Continue on steep, exposed upper ridge sections
Reach the summit of Täschhorn
Descend by the normal route or by the ascent line if conditions allow

Täschhorn Normal Route via Täschhütte and the East Ridge

3A | AD | III
This is the standard and best-known route to Täschhorn, usually climbed from the Täschhütte. It is a serious alpine route on mixed snow, ice, and rock terrain rather than a simple glacier walk. The upper mountain is exposed and route-finding can be complex, especially in poor visibility. Objective hazards include crevasses on the approach and rockfall or loose rock on the ridge sections. The route is generally considered a long, demanding climb for experienced alpinists. Conditions on the glacier and upper ridge strongly influence difficulty and timing.
