Southwest ridge from the Schwarzensteinhütte side
This is a documented alpine route on Grosser Löffler from the southwest side. It is a more mountaineering-oriented line than a hiking ascent and may combine snow, rock, and exposed ridge sections. The route is less straightforward than the normal glacier route and is more dependent on route-finding and current conditions. In firm conditions it offers a classic mixed alpine climb with sustained exposure. Because of the terrain, it is best attempted with proper alpine experience and equipment. Descent is commonly made by reversing the route or by linking to the standard route if conditions and logistics permit.
