The Southwest Ridge is another established alpine route on Lyskamm Occidentale. It is a high, exposed ridge ascent with glacier approach and typically requires stable conditions. The climbing is mainly on snow and mixed terrain, with route-finding important in poor visibility. As with other Lyskamm routes, cornices and wind-loaded snow can create serious objective danger. The route is documented in well-known alpine sources for the Monte Rosa massif. It is suitable only for experienced mountaineers comfortable on exposed ridges.
