Descent Time

This is the standard and best-known mountaineering route on Piz Kesch. It starts from the Kesch Hut and follows the south ridge, combining hiking terrain with short sections of easy scrambling. The route is generally straightforward in dry conditions but requires sure-footedness and alpine experience. Rock quality and route-finding can be variable, especially near the upper ridge. Snow or ice can significantly increase the difficulty and objective hazard. It is a classic non-glaciated alpine ascent rather than a technical climbing route.

Southwest Ridge

3A | AD | III
A documented alpine ridge route on Piz Kesch, generally considered more serious than the normal south ridge. It follows the southwest ridge toward the summit and involves sustained scrambling and more exposed climbing. The route is less commonly used and is more dependent on stable conditions and confident route-finding. Loose rock and exposure are the main objective concerns. It is suitable for experienced alpinists comfortable on steep mixed ridge terrain.
