A classic alpine route on Cime de l'Est, following the south ridge to the summit. It is a genuine mountaineering line rather than a hiking path, with mixed rock and exposed ridge climbing. The route is generally considered the normal way to climb the peak from the Swiss side. Conditions can vary significantly with snow and ice on the upper sections, increasing objective hazard and route-finding demands. The ridge environment is exposed, and protection may be sparse in places. It is typically undertaken by experienced alpinists comfortable with sustained mountain terrain.
